Ian Bruce "Turps" Turpie

(6 November 1943 – 11 March 2012)

Ian was an Australian television celebrity, best known for hosting the long-running game show The New Price Is Right.

ERNIE - As Ian regularly referred to himself, was a real character who loved his family and an Aussie mate.
He loved a game, a drink and a joke, he was my and many other guys mate, a fellow poet and a knight of the Hut. 
The only time he preferred not to be my partner was at golf, even off 36 I stilled dragged down our side. 
As always it is too late for me to do what I wanted to do and that was to see him before the end. 
He did live a great life but he deserved more make. Ian Frew
