Ray was a great man who’s legacy will live on in how I live my life. His larger than life personality, positive outlook and willingness to help when needed always stood out and I am indebted to being a friend.

The first time I spoke with Ray he wanted the fire wood from the 2 gum trees I chopped down in my yard. I said I will be home in about 2 hours and I’ll give you a hand when I get there. I got home and it was all gone, I was gobsmacked, I couldn’t believe an “old bloke” could power through so much hard labour. When I found out later that he had limited use in one arm I was in further disbelief!

This just highlighted the character of the man, hardworking, no nonsense and an ability to get the most out of himself. Things that I will always think of when I think of the times we shared a yarn or had a cuppa together
