I am very sorry to advise that Anoma Karunanayake died today, Wednesday 1 April 2009.
Anoma worked for many years as a valued staff member in General Law (as the Civil Law Division was then known) including as the Secretary to the Manager, General Law from July 1994, and from October 2000 as a Conference Organiser in the Family Dispute Resolution Section in the Central Sydney Office.
Anoma was born in Sri Lanka. She was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in April 1977. From 1976 Anoma worked as Private Secretary to a Judge of the Supreme Court and President of the Court of Appeal in Sri Lanka, and from 1987 in a private firm in Columbo to July 1990, when she resigned to come to Australia.
She was a devoted wife to Ravi. She was a great cook, and she loved her dogs.
Anoma was a gentle, calm, caring and helpful person who was held in high regard by her colleagues. Our thoughts are with Ravi and Anoma`s family and friends, including her work colleagues both past and present.
Anoma`s funeral will be held tommorrow, Thursday 2 April 2009 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Castlebrook Memorial Park Cemetary and Crematorium, Windsor Road, Rouse Hill.
Regards,
Annmarie Lumsden, Executive Officer
