DOROTHY
ENID WRIGHT
Late of Mayfield
Aged 79 Years

Much loved mother of PAUL (dec`d) and DONNA.

Relatives and Friends are warmly invited to DOT`S Funeral Service this THURSDAY (10/9/2009) at Reflections Chapel, 36A Glendale Drive, Glendale commencing at 11am.

Dorothy Enid Wright

Dot was born on the 20th October 1929 at Picnic Point

to parents Dorothy & Jack Davis.

She had a brother John & a sister Gloria (now both

Deceased)

Dot was never well as a child, regularly coming down

with pleurisy & pneumonia. Hence she spent a lot of time out of school.

However when summer came around she always got better and spent many a day in the water, either at the beach or in Georges River.

She would return from holidaying with her Aunt so tanned her mum would put her in a bath and scrub her with a scrubbing brush to try and get the dirt off.

Dot also sat for hours while her aunt wrapped her hair in fabric to make more curls, As if Dots hair wasnt curly enough!!!

By the way Dot, Donna says thanks for the inherited curls.

On the 11th December 1948 Dot married John Aprilovic and in 1949 gave birth to Paul at the Royal Hospital for women in Paddington.

They divorced some years later.

Dot then became partner to Norman Wright and eventually moved with Norm to a property outside a small town called Barraba.

Dot had many different jobs, from a barmaid at the Beauford Hotel Mayfield, to darning socks, to bottling tomato sauce and then to a hard working farm wife. To earn more money she worked on surrounding properties, stick and rock picking to clear their land for ploughing.

At the age of 42 Dot thought she was going through a change of life, but instead was told by doctors she was pregnant and in May 1972 gave birth to Donna at Tamworth Base Hospital.

One thing Dot loved was her animals, raising many by hand, such as baby calfs, kangaroos and in time of drought, car boot loads of baby lambs that Norm would pick up on his way home from work, or from farmers droving their sheep on the side of the road.

In later years the farm was sold and the family moved back to Mayfield. Dot always tried to reflect on the good times and loved the simple things in life.

She loved the water, the country side, flowers, her animals, a flutter on the pokies, a glass of wine, good company and a laugh.

But Most of all Dot loved her children.

So after almost 80 years and a life time full of stories and 2 years of refusing to have Dialysis, Dots heart broke and she quickly and quietly passed away at John Hunter Hospital on Sunday 6th September, leaving a crack in everyones heart that knew her.

God bless you Dot and may you rest in peace
