WALSH, Joyce

Joyce WALSH
Late of New Lambton
Formerly of Macquarie St Mayfield
1916 - 2007

Loving wife of RAY (dec 1988), devoted mother of PHILLIP (dec), NARELLE (dec) and PAUL. Mother-in-law of KERRY. A proud grandmother and great grandmother.

Family and Friends were warmly invited to attend JOYCE`s celebration of life held at Newcastle Memorial Park, Anderson Dr, Beresfield on THURSDAY 2/8/2007 commencing at 10am.

Now reunited with husband  Raymond Florence Walsh 1910 - 1988

Joyce was a loving and caring person. She was always having a joke and keeping an eye on what we were doing. She loved giving us nick nacks and enjoyed the Christmas street partys with Gloria. I will miss her alot and will definatly miss running next door to see her.

I remember Joyce as cousins were in the "old days".  Home visits, shared experiences and lots of fun times. I recall nursing Phillip and Paul under their mother`s watchful eye and running riot with Narelle.  It is so sad when families drift apart with the modern attitude of not enough time.

Joyce lived next door to us for as long as i can remember, and it always amazed me how she did 18 sets of stairs to her 2nd story appartment all those years. At about the age of 10 i started to put out joyces garbage every two weeks and continued to do so until she left. One thing that stuck in my mind was how everytime i did the garbages she wouldn`t be happy unless i took a few dollars for the job, and everytime i said the money wasn`t necessary but her reply was that she wouldn`t let me do the job if i didn`t take it. She was extremely generous and will be missed in the neighbourhood.

My beautiful Nana

I am so lucky to have had a nana like her,I have  so many beautiful memories of growing up around nan.I spent so many happy times with her.She taught me so much and loved us so much.

A little bit on our childhood with nan...
Every day when we woke up there would be breakfast on the table at 7,she would pack us little lunch usually arroroot bickies with butter ,a vegemite sandwich for lunch ,an apple for afternoon tea and a drink. We would get home and pop would be washing out in the laundry singing at the top of his lungs, happy as larry.Dinner would be on the table at 5,my favourite dish was her famous stew (Im sure you have all tasted it) and then supper at 7 or 8.Pop used to make us say our prayers and tuck us into bed afetr he rubbed goanna oil on our backs.Aunty Molly was always there as well joining us for dinner or supper. Nana would take us everywhere whilst on school holidays we went to her favourite motel in Burwood Sydney where she made friends with the owners. She took Todd and I to Luna Park,The zoo, over to Manly on the ferry and to Centerpoint. She also took us to the snow where we had a great time and lots of caravaning up to Queensland. We also did alot of cooking. She taught us how to make apple pies, scones and the best of all stick jaw toffees and toffee apples...Yummo

After pop passed away I admired her because she had the strength to carry on.She was always on the go,She was hardly home.If she was bored she would just jump on a bus and go and have lunch somewhere she knew, have a chat and be on her way again. She made so many friends wherever she went. When I was hairdressing she would come in every Monday to have her hair done, and whilst she was there she would tell everybody that I was her grandaughter whether she knew them or not.She had a great life and she was so great to be around. She always made me laugh. She was always very naughty and cheeky and thats why everyone loved her...Im sure everyone would have recieved a coat hanger or two or some baby clothes etc.She always had something in the cupboard for any occasion.

I will miss my nan so much but I feel so privelaged to have had such a loving, kind extremely beautiful nan.She will be very sadly missed but around me all the time..... She will never go away...
